G.W. Bailey: How The Sunshine Kids changed his life.

For those of you who have attended Sales Convention before, you’ve come to recognize a familiar face. G.W. Bailey, co-star of TV’s The Closer and Major Crimes, continues to be an enormous supporter of The Sunshine Kids—the primary charity of choice for Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices.

G.W. has been involved with the non-profit for 31 of our 34-year history together. He’s also been their executive director since 2001. He credits his goddaughter, Brandy Aldridge, for introducing him to The Sunshine Kids. Brandy was diagnosed with leukemia when she was 12 years old. G.W. sadly says, “She fought it for the next 5 years. We lost her at 17.” He dedicates everything he does at the foundation to the memory of Brandy.

There’s a great article on womanaroundtown.com from 2012 about his involvement with the charity entitled “G.W. Bailey’s Closer Confession: ‘The Sunshine Kids Changed My Life.’”

The Sunshine Kids is a non-profit organization dedicated to children with cancer. Established in 1982, they are committed to providing positive group activities and emotional support for young cancer patients. The Sunshine Kids provides a variety of programs and events, free of charge, for kids who are receiving cancer treatments in hospitals across North America.

G.W. has appeared in many film and television productions, but is best remembered as Staff Sergeant Luther Rizzo in the M*A*S*H TV series and Captain Thaddeus Harris in the Police Academy films. He starred as Detective Lieutenant Louie Provenza on TNT’s crime drama The Closer and now plays the same character on its current spin-off Major Crimes.

We and The Sunshine Kids are eternally grateful for G.W.’s unwavering support and generous spirit…and we can’t wait to see him and the kids again in Phoenix!
